George Washington University – BCPAP

A GWU-affiliated research initiative focused on policy and behavioral analysis to address pressing public health issues.

Project Summary

Design In DC built an interactive e-learning website for GWU’s BCPAP program, offering instructional modules, video demonstrations, and downloadable materials. Designed for accessibility, the site supports both doctors and students with easy access to essential educational tools.

03-story-challenge

Challenge

The Bubble CPAP Institute set out to make a specialized clinical skill, bubble CPAP for preterm and young infants, freely available to providers worldwide. That meant turning lectures, written chapters, and hands-on demonstrations into one educational platform that physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and families could all use, hosted on a credible, accessible site a small nonprofit team could launch and maintain.

04-story-solution

Solution

  • Built an interactive WordPress e-learning platform organizing the content into modules, lectures, and presentations, from foundations to bedside practice.
  • Delivered written chapters, visual presentations, and demonstration videos, accessible across desktop and mobile with downloadable materials for offline study.
  • Handled domain and hosting setup, refined the design in phases with the client, and carried the site through testing and launch.

Design Highlights

A sample of key screens from the platform, including the learning module library, lecture and presentation views, and resource pages built for clinicians and families. The design keeps clinical content clear and easy to navigate, supports written, visual, and video learners, and stays readable across desktop and mobile so practitioners can access it wherever they care for infants.

Design and Build Process

The engagement ran as a multi-phase WordPress build, moving from layout planning into iterative design refinement, then into integrating page content, lectures, and presentations. Design In DC reserved the domain, coordinated with the hosting vendor, and carried the site through testing and a final launch. Communication ran through email, WhatsApp, and Slack, with daily contact during busy periods, and the team made requested changes quickly and resolved issues within 24 hours. The client noted that the team knew what they were doing, stayed highly responsive, and kept pushing the project forward despite delays on the client side.

Conclusion

The finished platform gave the Bubble CPAP Institute a credible, accessible home for free neonatal respiratory education, organized into modules, lectures, presentations, and downloadable materials that work across desktop and mobile. Early on the site drew a few thousand visits and began generating questions, feedback, and requests for scientific contributions, an early sign it was reaching the practitioners it was built for. By pairing a clear content structure with a manageable WordPress backend and responsive support throughout the build, the project helped the institute move its mission online and keep growing its reach.
