BRICC, Virginia Tech’s Basic Research Innovation Collaboration Center, connects government, industry, and academia around advanced research and technology transition. Running that work means a steady calendar of events, managed collaboration spaces, and attendance tracking, all behind a credible public face. BRICC PIA needed a website that communicates the mission clearly and a custom portal to carry the operational load.

The engagement moved from discovery and requirements into information architecture and content mapping, with attention to both the public-facing story and the operational needs behind it. From there the team produced UI/UX designs for the marketing site and for the portal flows that handle event registration, facility booking, and attendance tracking. Design In DC then developed the website and the custom web application, connected the portal tools into a single system for visitors and internal teams, and carried the build through testing and launch. After rollout, the team continues to provide maintenance and hosting so the platform stays reliable as events and programs evolve.
