Solar Landscape’s previous website was outdated and did not reflect its current status as a leader in the community solar space. In partnering with Design In DC, Solar Landscape took a multi-phased approach with this project to ensure that the website would be a long-term investment for years to come. The first goal was to build a quick interim website that would look much better, but not have all of the desired functionality and custom animation yet.
Applying its multi-service approach, Design In DC created a strong interim phase one website while phase 2 was being worked on. For phase 2, we were able to add custom illustrations and animations to emphasize the types of places that are served by Solar Landscape, such as houses and business operators. The company has a lot of unique offerings for solar energy depending on who the entity is, so we communicated that through the design with animations that unify all of the offerings through an interactive infographic that is clickable to unique landing pages.
Another important factor in the website redesign was linking services to zip codes. Visitors can quickly enter in their zip code, identify their current power supplier, and then see if they are eligible for Solar Landscape’s services. Then they are redirected to a form to fill out. This type of dynamic functionality is what powers the Solar Landscape website and brings in as many qualified potential customers as possible. Since Solar Landscape serves households, businesses, and community partners, the website experience needed to be tailored to serve multiple types of visitors.
